Clark Atlanta rejects Trump declare that he “saved” them


Clark Atlanta College leaders have pushed again on Donald Trump’s claims that he “saved” the traditionally Black establishment when he spoke at a rally at Georgia State College on Saturday.

In the course of the rally, the Republican presidential nominee invited up Michaelah Montgomery, a Clark Atlanta alumna and conservative activist. Trump recounted to the group how he first met her in a restaurant earlier this 12 months, and he mentioned she thanked him for the federal COVID-19 reduction funds that went to traditionally Black faculties and universities throughout the pandemic.

Clark Atlanta swiftly issued a response on social media countering the narrative that the college wanted saving.

“As amongst our nation’s 4,000 Larger Training establishments, multi-national firms, hospitals and others to have benefited from CARES and HEERF bipartisan help garnered throughout the administration of Former President Trump, Clark Atlanta College is appreciative of such help, however was not ‘saved’ by COVID funding,” the college’s assertion learn.
